Flower Preservation? What is it?

Flower preservation is the process of treating and preserving flowers to maintain their beauty and sentimental value for years. ResinIt specialises in Resin Casting.

How does the Booking Deposit Work?

Availability tends to fill up quickly, especially during wedding season, so we highly recommend contacting us before making a booking to ensure we can accommodate your date. To secure your flower preservation with ResinIt, you can either pay in full by choosing your keepsakes on our Products Page. Alternatively, you can choose to secure your booking with a Booking Deposit.

Approximately 4 weeks before your wedding date, we will contact you to finalise the details of your order. At that time, the remaining balance will be due, minus the booking deposit you’ve already paid.

This process ensures we can dedicate the necessary time and care to creating your custom resin keepsake while giving you the flexibility to plan your design closer to your special day.

What types of flowers can be preserved?

Most flowers can be preserved, though sturdier blooms like roses, orchids, and daisies typically yield the best results. Fragile flowers may require special handling. If you’re unsure, feel free to contact us for advice.

How long does the preservation process take?

Depending on the type of preservation and the size of the project, timescale will differ. You will be provided with an estimated completion date when you place your order. Currently, I am working on an 18 week turnaround, this will be longer during peak season.

Will my flower change shape / colour?

Flower preservation is a delicate process, and it’s important to understand that some changes to the flowers are natural and unavoidable. During preservation, flowers may shrink slightly or alter in shape due to the removal of moisture. Their colours can also deepen, soften, or take on slightly different hues over time, as this is influenced by the preservation method and the natural properties of each bloom.

Additionally, some flowers may develop translucent spots after being encased in resin. These are lovingly referred to as “love spots.” They are caused by natural oils from our skin, which are invisible to the naked eye but transfer to the flowers during handling. While these spots may only become noticeable once the flowers are embedded in resin, they are a natural part of the process and add to the uniqueness of your piece.

We take every measure to preserve the beauty and integrity of your flowers, but their final appearance in resin will always reflect the natural changes that occur during preservation. These variations ensure that your resin keepsake is truly one-of-a-kind and full of the character and charm of the blooms you hold dear.

How should I care for my flowers before preservation?

To ensure the best results, keep your flowers fresh by placing them in water or refrigerating them until you are ready to send them. Avoid using hairspray or chemicals on the flowers, this may cause an adverse reaction during the resin casting process.

Will all my flowers be used?

In most cases no.

Some flowers may look better than others after the drying process and the better ones will always be chosen over the others. Any unused flowers will be disposed of. Some flowers or foliage may be retained for ResinIts use for testing of new stock.

Can my unused flowers be returned to me?

Yes, you can request that any unused flowers is returned to you. Please discuss this at the time of booking. An additional postage fee may be payable. Due to the flowers being dry and very fragile, we cannot take responsibility of the flowers being damaged by time the reach you.

When and how should I send my Flowers?

Ship as soon as possible: Ideally, send flowers within 1–2 days of the event to maintain their freshness. Follow the Shipping Guide for instructions on how to prepare your flowers for shipping.

Why can I see air bubbles in my finished product?

Air bubbles are a natural part of working with resin and, while we take great care to minimise them, they are sometimes unavoidable. Resin is a liquid material that cures into a solid state, and during this process, small amounts of trapped air can rise to the surface or remain within the piece.

We use specialized techniques to reduce bubbles as much as possible, such as careful pouring and degassing. However, the intricate shapes of preserved flowers and their natural textures can occasionally trap air, leading to tiny bubbles that may appear in the final product.

Rather than seeing them as imperfections, we encourage you to view these air bubbles as part of the handmade nature of your keepsake. Each piece is a unique work of art, and these subtle details highlight the organic process that goes into creating your one-of-a-kind resin memento.

How do I care for my product?

Keep your preserved flowers out of direct sunlight, excessive humidity, or heat to ensure they last for years. Avoid cleaning them with water or chemicals; a soft brush or cloth is usually enough. If anfter a while the shine on your product starts to fade. You can buff it back up with a good quality car polish.
